The text for listings has been entered — a tedious and sometimes frustrating editorial process fraught with the risk of typographical error — with uncounted tours, races, and, (experimentally) commercial tours all edited, formatted, and placed in date order. Now begins layout. The layout phase is creative, and frustrating: pouring a batch of text and images into a container of fixed volume, all the while trying to make it fit and look nice. I’ve picked out a cover image, a nice new font for this year’s publication, and have all but two of the ads ready to go. Tonight I’ll be looking at photos submitted for possible use in the body of the Calendar; there are never enough from which to choose. Tomorrow I hope to have most of the layout work completed. I expect to turn over the finished layout to our printer early next week with publication expected early in March. It looks like it will be a great cycling season in Ohio this year and I hope we can help make it better for all involved!
