Since 1986 it has been my privilege to serve as editor of the Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar. Linda Apple’s painting, “Great Day”, on the cover of this year’s Calendar, depicts a cycling helmet hung by its straps from the handlebars of a parked bicycle at the end of a day’s ride. As must happen with a great day on a bicycle, my journey in the editor’s seat is ending as I retire from the position. The road has been long, there have certainly been potholes, bumps, and “road apples” along the way, but overall it has been a great trip and I’ll miss the ride. I hope this publication has been, as intended from its start, a valuable resource for Ohio’s great cycling community and I hope it will continue to serve as such under new leadership.
