New Ohio Automobile License Plate Available March 2022
“We have updated the Share the Road license plate and hope you like it better. The icon has been updated to depict three cyclists of different types and the tagline was changed to Same Roads -> SAME RIGHTS. It’s still called the ‘Share the Road’ specialty plate, to avoid having to make a legislative update. The new plate will be available March 24, if you’re interested in purchasing the new plates for your next license renewal. We thank Formation Studio for our new design and ODPS for the new background with the Wright flier.
“Don’t forget to apply for grants up to $1,000 for cycling education and encouragement programs. The license plate fee pays for those grants!”
Since 1986 I have served as editor of the Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar. As then-chair of the Ohio Bicycle Federation (OBF), I took on the position immediately following the untimely death of David Fortier. The first edition of the Calendar was issued in 1984 via the offices of the Miami Valley Regional Bicycle Council (MVRBC) and consisted of a single printed 8 1/2 X 11 double-sided, sheet listing the year's events. While the MVRBC provided essential assistance in launching the Calendar, it was Fortier who envisioned a glossy publication distributed statewide. The calendar, he also believed, would assist event promoters in avoiding scheduling conflicts, and attracting riders. The Calendar has changed format over the years and is increasingly accessed via the World Wide Web but remains true to its original mission. -- James Guilford
