I am pleased to report that on May 19, 2026, William Chronister was appointed editor of the Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar (OBEC) by OBF Chair Chuck Smith. Bill succeeds me in the position and is only the fourth person to serve as editor. Previous editors include Peggy Skoniki, who established the publication; David Fortier, who upgraded the Calendar to a glossy and full-color piece, and established the listing style; and me, responsible for change in format to magazine, evolved listing style, and established a presence on the Internet.

Bill comes to us with decades of professional newspaper copy editing experience, writing for publication, membership in several cycling organizations, and a strong interest in cycling advocacy.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve as editor of the OBEC since 1986. I hope Ohio cyclists and ride hosts have benefited from my efforts and OBF’s backing over these decades. I am thankful a person of Bill’s capabilities stepped forward to take over from me as I bow out.
