Getting the word out early is our annual goal and that means we’d like to actually have every copy of the Calendar out there in cyclists’ hands promoting bicycling. At the time of this writing, we still had some copies warehoused and we’d like to change that.
So, if you represent a bicycle shop, club, or event that would like to have printed copies of the 2019 Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar for free distribution, please contact us ASAP. We’ll need to know how many copies are needed and the address to ship to — we’ll do what we can as long as supplies last. Please, if you are not an official representative of a shop, club, or event, do not request on their behalf; we need to hear from them directly!
Dry days and tailwinds to you!

Since 1986 I have served as editor of the Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar. As then-chair of the Ohio Bicycle Federation (OBF), I took on the position immediately following the untimely death of David Fortier. The first edition of the Calendar was issued in 1984 via the offices of the Miami Valley Regional Bicycle Council (MVRBC) and consisted of a single printed 8 1/2 X 11 double-sided, sheet listing the year's events. While the MVRBC provided essential assistance in launching the Calendar, it was Fortier who envisioned a glossy publication distributed statewide. The calendar, he also believed, would assist event promoters in avoiding scheduling conflicts, and attracting riders. The Calendar has changed format over the years and is increasingly accessed via the World Wide Web but remains true to its original mission. -- James Guilford
