Just now we approved the printing proof for the 2023 Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar; a good rainy day activity. Our project will be added to their work queue and scheduled for production. Delivery? Soon. That’s all we know.
Proofs approved so off we go!
Since 1986 I have served as editor of the Ohio Bicycle Events Calendar. As then-chair of the Ohio Bicycle Federation (OBF), I took on the position immediately following the untimely death of David Fortier. The first edition of the Calendar was issued in 1984 via the offices of the Miami Valley Regional Bicycle Council (MVRBC) and consisted of a single printed 8 1/2 X 11 double-sided, sheet listing the year's events. While the MVRBC provided essential assistance in launching the Calendar, it was Fortier who envisioned a glossy publication distributed statewide. The calendar, he also believed, would assist event promoters in avoiding scheduling conflicts, and attracting riders. The Calendar has changed format over the years and is increasingly accessed via the World Wide Web but remains true to its original mission. -- James Guilford
